Question Hi,
Me and my boyfriend, Jon, spend most of our weeks together in his room, as I live 40 mins away. A couple of months ago, Jon started to have a really bad dry cough during the night only. He does not have asthma. So we went to the doctor and they gave him a nasal spray and an albuterol inhaler. These seemed to work perfectly fine but after the medicine ran out, his cough came back. Recently, I started having the same dry cough and I do have asthma and allergies often.
I have noticed that his room gets extremely dusty and stuffy. He keeps the window closed at all times and the sunlight hits it directly. So I made him buy an allergen remover with a hepa filter. The filters get incredibly dirty within a day of cleaning them. The air quality seemed to improve significantly but we are still coughing at night and having allergy symptoms such as stuffy/runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing sometimes.
We have also recently decided to put away his feather down comforter...if that makes a difference, we dont know.
I have also started noticing that there are little carpet beetles on his bed post, the mirror, and the wall. He does have carpet flooring.
We used to have our pet rats' cage in the room but decided to move it out of the room.
Do you have an advice/suggestions to reduce the coughing at night? Should we keep the window open? Should we buy a specialized vacuum? Carpet cleaning? Room foggers?
Thank you in advance. We will appreciate any advice you can offer or any explanations as to what is causing our symptoms.
