Expertise
I can answer all sorts of questions related to hayfever and the effects of different foods on the condition.

Experience
I have suffered from various (pollen, mites, dander) allergies since the age of 7, but due to a change in diet, I've managed to suppress almost all of the symptoms.

Respiratory: Allergies & Sinus Problems - Constant throat clearing

Expert: Ruud - 7/20/2006

Question
My husband has to contantly clear his throat.  He says that he has a contant flim in his throat and if he isn't clearing it he has to "cough" it up.  He thinks he needs to see a lung doctor, I feel he needs an allergist.  What could be causing this kind of problem and what can he do about it?

Answer
It sounds very much like allergies. The symptoms of allergies are caused by histamines, which is why people take anti-histamines. Diet can be a big factor in your body's production of histamines, especially dairy and meat. Try getting your husband to not consume any dairy products for a week. If nothing changes, see a doctor.

PS, he doesn't smoke, does he?
