Question I have bronchitis. I am having difficulty breathing. I have been taking Doxycycline 100 mg. and Ambifed-G DM twice per day for six days. I see little improvement. What else can I do to speed my recovery?
Thank you.

Answer Kay,
Hopefully you will see some improvement within a couple of days of starting your antibiotic (Doxycycline). If you were in the hospital, your physician might offer oxygen to help. That is more difficult to arrange at home. Also, by the time you arranged for oxygen at home you wouldn't need it anymore. You might ask your physician for something else to help with breathing. Sometimes a bronchodilator can be prescribed, but it may not help. Depends on the nature of the illness. That is a decision that your physician would have to make based on a physical assessment.
Other things you can do to help remove the mucus (this might make breathing easier): stay away from cigarette smoke and drink plenty of water.
