Question
I worked at a university, then left the State for a few years, came back and got a job with the same university. Now I am looking at applying for a job outside of the university. When updating my resume is there a way to list the one employer (xyz university) and the two different jobs I had even though there is a 4 yr span between the two jobs?

Answer
Dear Nazach:

Yes, you simply list it like this:

Example:

University of Akron, Akron, Ohio
Manager, 2005- Present
Description of position

Assistant Manager, 1999- 2001
Description of position

So you see that you list the university once and just list the two positions with the most current one first.  Write back if this is not clear.  Warmly, R. Butler
