Resume Help/Does your CV need your photo?

Dear Lisa,

I found out that there are a few websites, free, which help you to create a professional CV.

One puzzling feature is the ability to upload your own picture and paste it into the CV.

Is it a good thing?

Hi Thomas,

Great Question!  The best answer depends on your target audience or region of the world. In some European communities, and others throughout the Middle East, candidates place their photo on their CV or resume as a rule.

In the United States, this is not a common practice, mainly due to laws governing the potential for creating a situation that could promote a form of discrimination. On the other hand, this is an acceptable practice in most any environment associated with outlets such as television, news, media, modeling, marketing and real estate - for reasons that could be considered obvious.

Maybe some of the websites cater to a variety of countries, or just want to have the asset available for those that need to have their photo on their document.....

Does this help answer your question?
