Question I am a student, wife, & mother looking to get a job in commercial property management upon graduating w/ a BBA next year. I would like to know if this is the type of job that will keep me away from my family, or will I be able to have some flexibility in my schedule? I am a hard worker but I also want to be there for my daughter's special events and family vacations, etc.
Answer Property management is much like any job in that it requires a full time commitment. So, if you work for a commercial property management company, you would most likely have schedule conflicts if you have family things to attend to which occur during the workday. The only way to increase that flexibility would be to start your own company, where you can make the decisions on your own work schedule. Of course, some employers will be more flexible than others, but remember that you will be competing with other applicants who may not have those same schedule restrictions.
