I want to know how should i develop a career in retail real estate? What are the core competancies required? What is the growth potential, growth life cycle, how does my market value increase? Considering that i dont have any professional education on this aspect of retailing, how should i take it forward? Answer Naturally, education and the resulting credentials would probably help advance your career, and make you more desirable to prospective employers. here in the US, one organization you can check out is the Institute of Real Estate Management, and their web site is www.irem.org. They offer many courses in retail property management, and the highly sought after credential of CPM (Certified Property Manager). I'm not sure if this would be of any help overseas, but at the very least the education you would receive is a benefit. If your goal is to work here in the US, you should also plan to obtain a real estate license (different requirements, depending on which state). Most states require that license in order to manage real estate.
Other than that, work experience is key, so keep at it and you should go far.
