I would never put money into a Fixed Index Annuity.  It only favors the insurance company. If you are looking for growth I am would look at mutual funds with PIMCO and Third Party Money Management.



If you are looking for guarantees. I would look at variable annuites.



ALl of this can be accomplished in an IRA.

The guarantees in Variable Annuities are no better than those found in modern Fixed Annuities, while the actual accumulation value of VAs is not certain to be at least what had been invested.
