Expert: Rusty Ford Date: 4/6/2008 Subject: elevated cpk's
Question My total cpk's have been in the 275-550 range for the past five years. I'm 49 years old ued to be an athlete- stopped doing vigorous exercise at age 42. fractionated cpk was 100% MM. Creatinine has been creeping up now 1.4 from 1.2.Aldolase was normal. Concerned about myositis, or even worse. Also intense muscle and bone pain especially in chest, 24-72 hours even after a lite workout. Cardiac work-up negative. Please give me some ideas- Thanks
Answer Kevin,
I wish I could be of help. Myositis is not something I am very familiar with.
I believe the normal range is 50 to 150. But people have it up into the thousands. So from what I understand your range is not that high.
Your best bet is to continue working with your doctor. Keep pushing until you get a diagnosis.
