Question
hi i was first told i had r.a at 14,however i am now 36 and have no joint damage and my new consultant is at a loss,i have never been a text book case apparently,i have all the symptons plus some,i have been taken of all meds and am now suffering buy they dont know what to give me,what type of it could i have? thanks

Answer
Ursula,

An RA Factor of 36 is extremely low. Some people see it in the hundreds. It is not considered elevated until it is above 20. RA Factor is seen in many types of arthritis. There is now way I can even begin to guess on the amount of information you have given me.

RA factor is a complicated thing. Hi RA can mean Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Sjögren's syndrome and other things. An infection can also cause it to go up as well as short term inflammatory conditions such as from trauma to the body. Some times it means nothing.

I wish you well

Rusty
