Question
Hello,

For the past few months I have had a dull ache in my left hip which sometimes extends into my pelvic area and also causes some cramping. It doesn't hurt when I walk it just aches, mostly when I am sitting.

I am 58 and am wondering if this is some kind of
osteoarthritis as I am in excellent health with no other problems.

Also, do you think Aleve might help, I have tried Tylenol, even #3, but it doesn't help.

Thanks in advance for your help

Answer
I'm sorry you're in pain, and I know how frustrating it can be.  My hip arthritis hurts with overuse, often when I have stood for too long or exercised (walked) too briskly.  Rest, meaning sitting and elevating my feet, often helps.

The best way to find out if osteoarthritis is the problem is to see your docor and get x-rays.  If it is OA, you and your doctor can find the best treatment for you.
