Rheumatology (including Arthritis) - RA

Question
Hello.  First off, I just had a baby boy 7 weeks ago - and am only 19 years old.  The past fews days when I wake up in the morning, my whole body aches, and my ankles and feet hurt really bad, so bad its hard to walk.  My elbows and wrists also bother me, although not as bad.  Is it possible I have RA and didnt know it?  Even at 19?  My mother informed me today that my father's sister had RA...Any information you give me will be helpful.  Thank you!!

Answer
Dear Jennah,   I would STRONGLY suggest that you see your doctor or your OB/GYN and tell him/her of these symptoms... They could very well be related to post-birth medical problems and I would think that some blood work, including RF (rheumatoid factor) be done...

If all of this blood work is normal, you may be suffering from STRESS.....  Stress is normal in post-partum women and that is why a lot of women sugger from post-partum depression etc...

Here is a web site you need to read and also get to the doctor and get checked for other medical problems beside stress...

thank you,   karen
