Question I had recent arthiscopic surgery on my knee. Beside a torn miniscus, they found significant arthritis. The doctor suggested that I take glucosomine. I have recently learned that this is made from the shells of shrimp. I allergy test postive to shellfish, although I can eat shrimp and lobster, but not clams. I am also allergic to iodine dyes. Is it safe for me to take the glucosomine? How do you feel about "acai" which is being promoted as the world's #1 superfood in the media?
Thanks, Jae
Answer Hi jae,
Not all glucosamine is made from shell fish, bovine trachea is another source. Check the label. I am unfamiliar with 'acai', but a can of Ensure is perfect as well. It has everything you need to live on, it depends how you define perfect. One size never fits all, so anything that claims it is perfect is imperfect.
