Question Hi,
Just a quick question.. about 1 month ago (maybe moew) we transplanted 2 2mt talls golden cane palms from pots to our garden.. they seem to be burning, the edges of their leaves are burning away and the trunks see dark orange/rust colour... There HAS been an amazing wind lately (normally there is no wind in our redcliffe, QLD, area but the last month has been shocking).. what can I do and can they survive? It was spring when I planted them (Approx 24deg celsius in the day and 14 at night) THANKS HEAPS, Romina
Answer Hi, sorry about the delay, I've been on holiday in Texas. Thanks for your question. I would suggest that spring is not a bad time to transplant, but the fall is better. Palms are pretty hardy, but without seeing them, I'll have to be vague and say it sounds like windburn, keep them well watered. If it continues to occur, try tying the leaves upwards with some string which will help to prevent it. I hope this is of some help and I'm sorry I cant be more specific. If you have any further questions, please get back in touch.
