Rock Gardens - moss

Expert: John-Paul Friend - 10/3/2004

Question
i want to put in a rock garden and waterfall, i want moss in there too, does the moss have to be in the shade?  i live in south new jersey, what type of moss would you recomend for this climent?

Answer
Hi, thanks for your question. I'm not really sure about types of moss, but I know that you can create growth of lichens and mosses by painting your rocks with natural yoghurt. I know that sounds odd, but it provides the nutrients to promote good growth. This does mean that any growth of moss will be the local type. I hope this has been of some help, if you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to get in touch.
