About Melissa Expertise I can answer questions about feeding, handling, restraining and caring for all different kinds of rodents.
Experience I am very into the rodent field. I own many different species and I also work at a veterinarian's office with two highly trained rodent specialists.
Answer Sugar gliders make great pets! But there's a lot to consider before adopting one.
They can live up to 15 years, I've read.
I only own one sugar glider, but they say that having two is better if you can swing it. Mine seems to be happy on her own. She gets that much more attention and out-of-cage time. :)
They only get to be about chipmunk size with a tail that long as well. But they need a tall cage to "glide" around in.
For the most part, they become tame easily. It's best if you can get one from a breeder so he/she's used to being handled. They will bond to a human very quickly. Mine was very bonded to me within the first two days of having her home.
They love any attention you'll give them. :) But please please please do more research than this before getting one. They have special feeding instructions, special cages they need (being that they're so small they can slip through the bars of some cages!) and other things that make them unique. But if you do get one, good luck! :)
