Question well hello, my mama rat had babies 7 or so weeks ago. i seperated all of them so i wouldnt have more babies but the cages are lined up next to each other so they can still see the others. a few of my girl babies and one boy have been losing their fur on their backside, no where else. and its not affecting all of them. i cant see any kind of problem concerning the rest. all of them are acting normal. any ideas on whats causing jusdt a few babies to lose fur?
Answer Hi there, it could be mites. Mites cannot be seen with the human eye and will not affect every rat, they can be more common in times of stress as all rats have mites living on the skin normally anyway. If not that, it could be an allergy to food or bedding Either way I think a vet visit is important to help sort this out. Check out www.fancy-rats.co.uk its a great rat forum, they may be able to give you more answers there, good luck
