Question
thank you so much for your service.  I have two critters that I thought were baby squirrels, as I found them when they fell out of my cedar tree. There were 5 total, 2 died apparently on impact, and the other little one died yesterday. the other two seem to be doing well. I wondered why the "squirrels" were so small, but I also never heard of mice being in a tree! Anyway, I have been feeding them round the clock, with esbilac powder, and they're eyes are starting to open. If they were squirrels, they should be around 41/2 weeks old. they are grey with white bellies..how old do you think they might be, when do I start feeding solids, and when are they ready to be released?  (I had all this info, when I thought them to be squirrels, but now it's like starting over!) They are V-cute! thanks again..

Answer
sorry im a bit confused, you say they are not squirrels but mice? or am i missing something? there would be a big size different between the two. can you please explain a bit as i am quite confused by your msg! sorry! but regardless of what they are you cant just release them. In many countries its illegal to release grey squirrels. Any animal that has been hand reared then is dumped back into the wild without rehabilitation will die because they will get eaten or wont know how to fend for themselves. Good luck
