Question
have been rearing three baby mice for the past 3 days. all are strong, healthy and making great progress. they have fur and are blinking a bit but not keeping their eyes open. not sure on their age guessin around a week and a half. they've just started going to the toilet on their own. so far been feeding them warm kitten milk about 30-40ml syringe every 2- 4 hours. they are feeding no problem but is this the right amount? dont want to over or under feed them but they are starting to try and suckle more often... how much should we give? they keep looking hungry! please get back to me with any info you can asap. we've grown quite attatched to the little loves!

many thanks

Answer
Hi, theres no set amount to feed but to me that does sound like its far too much and I would be worried that it could cause health problems. What do they weigh? Feeding by syringe is hard because it can go into their lungs and choke them also you can pass air into their stomachs and they can get bloat. they must be getting about 240 mls a day of milk, that just sounds like it is far far too, that must be at least three times their body weight. I think perhaps you should consult with a vet who may be able to weigh them for you
