I too was trying to rear a baby mouse...feeding was the trickiest endeavour. Placing a drop of fluid on the mouth of the baby mouse seemed to be working best. However, I mixed the milk powder with very little water and it was thicker. The thick formula caused the baby mouse to aspirate...there was nothing that I could do. Poor little guy.
In the end, I too recommend that the mouse be fed whatever milk replacement it seems to prefer. My caution however is that if mixed too thick the mouse could aspirate.
Mice are pretty resiliant little things and within a week, they will have fur etc. It is really the first few days that are the hardest.
I hope this posting helps someone. To resolve some of the guilt that I had, I thought that I would post this learned lesson on the web somewhere, so that others could be cautioned.
