About Brandy Expertise I currently have 11 animals in a one bedroom apartment, 9 of which are rodents, I can answer questions about most rodents specifically: Chinchillas, Degus, Ferrets, Guinea Pigs, and hamsters. I can give you advice not only on how to care for them so that they live a long healthy life, but also some money saving tips as well, I know and understand that having a pet rodent is as sometimes alot of work and can be pricey at times, so I will do my best to help in anyway possible. I am not a vet, I know about the diets of the animals but if your animal is having very strange symptoms, I suggest you see a vet, not me.
Experience I have 4 pet chinchillas, a degu, 2 ferrets, a guinea pig, and a hamster. I love these animals and I know how hard it is to learn how to take care of some of them such as chinchillas. I know what they cannot and what they can eat, and know many of the signs of different potential illnesses.
Education/Credentials I am currently in college majoring in animal science and minoring in zoology.
Expert: Brandy Date: 1/21/2007 Subject: what to feed my baby mouse?
Question just today i got a baby mouse and im pretty sure its really young because his eyes havent yet opened. im not really sure what i should feed johannes (the mouse) because ive not ever had a mouse before. though ive heard he should eat some type of seeds, im not willing to feed him that until i know for sure. so far, i tried to feed him water through a straw but he didnt like it i guess. also, i tried to mash up a raspberry for him, but after a taste of it, johannes wouldnt eat that either...i really need help out with this...
Answer Hello Ashley, I don't blame you for being concerned about your baby mouse, I would be too. The best diet for him would be the seeds that you were speaking of. As far as water goes, at pet stores or even department stores you can purchase water bottles that are made for baby mice.
