Question Hello, I am consdiering buying a 2 3/4 year oldmale hedgehog as a future breeder, he is peddigree and was bred in thepast by a good breeder, my questions is not about breeding but rather is thsi hedgehog considered old? he wont die in three months will he lol, please get back to me with your option, thanks.
Answer Hedgehogs can live 5-10 years, usually 5 years in the wild. It is common for hedgehogs to develop cancer, usually around 5 years of age, but not always. It is not recomended to bread after the hedgehog is 2 years of age. I don't think he will die in 3 months, but he is getting near the end of his life.
Breeding is also very difficult, and it gets more difficult with age. There is a reason the breeder is letting him go.
