Question Hello, I am re-scaping the cavy exbit at my local zoo for my horticulture internship. What I would like if you can get it, is a list of landscapeing plants that are poisonus to cavys.
More importanly plants that arnt posionus but that the caves don't particuly enjoy grazing on.
Thanks. Bryan
Answer timothy grass, hay, alfalfa, excellent stuff to plant. Though not horribly toxis, cavies will eat hosta and barberry. Consider dandylion as well, mine loves to groom the yard for those. Use the same plants that were in there before, just add to them with known safe flora. Cavies don't like water much, but they will investigate and play around a small clean pond. In their area, make sure there's a spot where the dirt is bare. They'll roll in dust and small sandy substrate.
