Question
My daughter checking her rat found what she thinks is mites but i think they could be fleas. I have checked my six rats they are fine.I said it could be his bedding which she buys from pets at home, I use kitchen rollfor my rats is that ok for them?  many thanks jackie

Answer
Hello Jackie,

If your daughter's rat has Mite or Fleas, you should take him to the vets. Other wise the rat could die from anaemia.

If the rat is housed on wood shavings or hay the mites could have come from there. (Shavings and Hay should NEVER be used as it is not safe for rats). It's best to use paper bast beddings. i.e. Bob Martin's Paper Based Cat Litter, Bio-CatOlet or NewsPapers.

Hope this helps.

Bye
Jess
