Question
My Rat has a lot of Porphyrin around his eyes it looks so horrible, is there something I can get to help with this?

Please help.

Answer
Hi,

Porphyrin occurs when a rat is stressed, ill or has an allergy to something. If your rat is not sneezing to often or showing any sings of illness, then it could be it's diet? what do you feed? does the rat scratch a lot?. Cage cleaner can cause it to, what do you clean to cage with and how often?. It occurs in red and pink eyed rats a lot more, what colour eyes does the rat have? A old rat will suffer more from porphyrin as they get stressed quicker. Does the rat seem stressed? Travling is a great stress for a rat.

Sorry for all the questions
Bye
Jess
