Question My mouse was due to have her litter yesterday and she's late. its her first litter so i was wondering if this is normal for the first one. Also, is there anything in particualr i should bear in mind when the little mice come? is there anything that i need to know? thankyou.
Answer How late is she? Keep an eye on her to make sure that she shows no signs of struggling to give birth as this can happen if her pelvis isn't big enough for the babies to get through or if there is a baby obstructing the birth canal. Any signs of this will need emergency treatment urgently. If she seems ok then hopefully she will give birth soon. She will need lots of protein in her diet like chicken, boiled eggs and maybe a small amount of milk. This is because it takes a lot of energy to feed babies. The same applies to the babies when they are old enough to eat solids. Puppy or kitten food is a good supplement to their normal diet as it contains a lot of protein too. Good luck
