Question
I recently noticed that my pet rat has been chewing on her tail. Is this a serious problem that I should be worried about, or is it normal? She is my first rat so I am still new to what is bad and what isn't.
I'd appreciatte any help you could give me.
Sincerely,
Amber

Answer
Hello Amber,

If you could answer the following questions so I can get a better understanding of the problem.

1. Does she have another rat to live with?
2. She is a girl?
3. Is it the base of the tail she's chewing?
4. If not the base where about's on the tail is she chewing?
5. What bedding is she housed on?
6. What are you feeding her?
7. Are there any cuts on the tail?

If there's any more that you think I need to know that might help me, please let me know.

Thanking You
J.
