Question
i just bought a female fancy rat that was pregnant when i bought it. today it had a litter of only 3. arent they supposed to have more in a batch. could it be because shes only 2-3 months old or maybe she has more in her belly or something like that. hope you can help! thanx

Answer
A rat on average has 8-12 kittens, but it sometimes they have smaller litters. One of mind only had 1. Yes, it could have something to do with her age as she is very young. If there is no blood coming out of her and she is still not straining then there's nothing to worry about, If she is still straining the get her to the vet's.

Your lucky to have only 3, at least there be easy to rehome or keep a small number.
