About Yvonne Bressani Expertise While I would like to say that I am an expert in all areas of romance fiction, the authors that I am most familiar with in this category are Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Mary Jo Putney, Christina Dodd, Rachel Lee, Linda Howard, Justine Dare and one or two others.
I can also answer questions regarding other authors that do not fall into this category. These include Tom Clancy, Jack Higgins, John Sandford, John Douglas (non-fiction), amongst others.
Experience My experience in this area has evolved from having spent many years reading the material as well as having written a few amateur pieces.

Publications While at a junior college, two of my papers have appeared in publications for two honors classes: the subject of the first one was three Moorish doctors and their contributions to the field of medicine in the Middle Ages and the subject of the second paper was a synopsis of medical and technological advances from 1900 to 1945 (this was one of two background chapters that were a segue to the rest of the volume which focused on various forms of telecommunication).
"The Silence Within" (an anthology of poetry) and "Sounds of Poetry" (a recorded anthology of poetry), both have been published by the International Library of Poets.

Awards and Honors I have received two honorable mentions in writing while in High School, one was for a comparison/contrast essay on the Sun Dance ceremony of the Blackfoot and Cheyenne and one was for a one-act play involving Brian Boru.
While at a junior college, I have received first place in an Honor Program writing contest for a paper that I had written on the Venerable St. Bede.
Question Hello,
Is Historical Romance a separate genre from Romance novel?
I am doing some research on a writer whose name is Laura Parkter Castoro. Are you familiar with her work? She has 34 books 2/3 of which are historical romance.
Thanks
Susan Daniels
Answer No, historical romance is a subcategory of romance, not a separate genre.
The general subcategories within Romance would generally (and this list probably does not include all of them, just the ones I can think of) look something like this:
1. Romance
a. Historical
1. Regency
2. Medieval
3. Civil War
4. Revolutionary War
5. etc.
b. Contemporary
c. Series
1. Harlequin
2. Silhouette
d. Romantic Suspense
There are also other subcategories within the series which would also include historicals and contemporaries.
And, no, I am not familiar with Ms. Castoro's works.
