Question Hello,
I am looking for Birth Cert. of Grandfater born in late 1800 or early 1900 in Romania. When my father was born, the midwife mispelled the surname. Later in years my Grandfather change his surname. Who knows why?
Thank you for your help.
Sharon
Answer Dear Mrs Sharon,
it is possible to obtain a birth certificate only if you give a power of attorney to a romanian citizen . In this way I obtained many certificates ( death, marriage and birth certificates in Bucharest and other places ) . It is important to know the whole name and surname , birthplace ( the actual name of the town )
For example .. if your Grandfather was born in a little village near Timisoara we have not go to ask the birtht certificate to the major of this village but to the central archive of Timisoara but it is possible not to find neither there so we have to go to the national archive in Bucharest
It is also important to know the exact year of birth beacause many majors has certificates up from 1910 .
Hope I was clear
