Romania - Romanian Culture

Question
Earlier this year I was due to marry a Romanian woman in England, but needed to postpone a week before it was due because I was having a mental breakdown. As soon as I said I wanted to postpone it my fiancee insisted that I was calling it off and left me and has never spoken to me since and refuses to do so and wants nothing to do with me. I wonder whether this was cultural? Is it not possible for Romanians to postpone weddings? Does it shame the family? Thanks, Phil

Answer
Hi Phil,

No,it is not cultural at all. You should know that when you postpone such event like a wedding you cannot expect pleasant reactions from a woman. I think that she is very upset and lost a part of the trust in you. Maybe her relatives made preparations, expenses for the wedding and that's another reason to be upset.
My recommendation is to talk to her when you can propose her a new wedding date. You could send her some flowers/gifts along with your apologize and try to communicate with her. I don't think you should let her separate from you if you love each other so much.
=I don't know if you know some Romanian words but, here are some declarations in Romanian.

I love you - Te iubesc;
You're my happiness - Esti fericirea mea;
I want you to marry me - Vreau sa fii sotia mea;
Forgive me if I upset you - Iarta-ma daca te-am suparat.

Good luck and keep in touch, tell me what happens.
Eos.
