Romantic Movies - Two lovers try to find each other after being re-incarnated

Question I think this movie came out somewhere between 1976-1978. It was a series for television. The plot was that a young man coming home from war (WWII?) saves a lady and her kids who have crashed into a pond but dies in the process. His fiance' is waiting for him but he never returns. They meet in heaven and are given a 2nd chance on earth. He comes back to a poor Southern family and she is born to a rich family and given all the privileges life has to offer. He grows up with an abusive father but has a talent for playing the guitar. He keeps trying to make a hit song but can't seem to escape trouble. She grows up going to all the best music schools and I think becomes a singer. Numerous times they almost meet but just miss each other. She goes through many bad relationships. They finally meet in the end when she hears a song he has composed that is based on what he heard in heaven. I have tried Google and IMDB to find this with no luck. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer Craig-
I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I've been racking the archives trying to find an answer for you. There are other people out there searching for this same movie but also with no luck. In fact it seems like it was asked even on this site three years ago. But I'm sorry to say I couldn't find an answer either. The closest thing I could find was "Sandcastles" (1972) but it's different from your description. I will keep looking and if you think of any other details that might help my search, let me know.
