Subject: Combination of vents

Question
Hi,

I'm getting my roof done. My roofer suggested to install 2 turbines and 4 low profile vents. My house is 2 story and we live in TX. we have couple of soffit vents as well. Do you think the combination of lowprofile and turbines reduces the heat built in attic?

thanks in advance
Sri

Answer
Hi Sri
well it sounds like he is doing the right thing with the exception of the turbine vents, From my experience with turbine vents I find that in some cases they will suck in water.

But it sound like he has got the right idea, What I would install is a solar vent. they run around $400.00 dollars but they are worth it.

If you want to go with the turbine vents because of cost, keep in mind you may have to bag them in the winter.
The low profile vents is a way to go.

Good luck on your new roof

Thank you
Tom Souza
