Question QUESTION: We are planning on re-shingling our roof. The roof contains 2 vent pipes and 2 stove pipes. We bought the rubber boots to go over top of the vent pipes which is no issue. My question is regarding the stove pipes. They're both currently using a cone shaped flashing with a storm collar on top. Are we able to reuse the cone flashing or what is your recommendations? The top of the pipe cannot be reached easily to slide a new one on, this is why we're thinking of reusing it and tar the nail holes, or are we totally out in left field on this one? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
ANSWER: Hi Greg. I don't fully understand your question as there are products that fit every size of pipe and do not have to be slid over the top of the pipes. If you type "Stove Pipe Collar" on your browser line, all sorts of options appear. 87,300 of them. Here is one: http://www.doityourself.com/invt/u160785

QUESTION: Hi Michael, it's not the stove pipe collar I was referring to it's the flashing which is located beneath the collar and it's all one piece with the flat flashing which then goes into a cone shape which is slid over the stove pipe. Then the collar is placed at the top of the cone flashing. I'm wondering if we'd be able to reuse the cone flashing, the storm collar we are planning to reuse
Thanks
Greg
Answer Hi again Greg. O.K. I am familiar with that type of fitting. If you can't slide it up and off the pipe, you may be able to carefully cut it off and put it back using another piece of the same, or similar material by riveting and sealing over the butt joint.
Not being able to physically see your situation, it is difficult to offer further assistance. Hope this helps.
