Question The product you recommend? Want to do it ourselves from the ground with a hose. Roof is STEEP we cannot get on the roof. Must work from the ground. Can this be done? I thought of using Bleach and a water hose? Thanks you for your answer.
Answer Hi Aroa. Sounds like a trick situation you have. The trouble with trying do this from the ground is that you stand a good chance of allowing water/bleach to get under the roof covering and tar/felt paper and therefore the decking and on through to the attic.
Pressure washing with a bleach dispenser is the best way but, there again, you have to spray down the roof and not up. Your best course of action may be to rent a long extension ladder and do a section at a time. You would also have to protect any plants, trees or grass under the roof or bleach will destroy it.
One other option which may be possible, is to use a rope tied to a tree and thrown over the house. This is used to help climbing up the slope. This may sound crazy but, believe me, I have done it on a metal roof in the rain. Somewhat scary however.
Hope this helps.
