Roofing - Replace Roof

Expert: Michael J. Owen - 10/30/2009

Question
My roof had damage on one side that leaks into the attic and a roofer came yesterday and finished the side that is not damaged first.  Is this normal procedure??  It seems odd to me considering he knew it was going to rain all weekend.  Thanks! Jen

Answer
Hi Jen. Simple answer.........NO.
What can I say after the fact? That does not make any sense at all. However, if the damaged side was dried in and therefore should have stopped any chance of leaks, I guess he had his reasons. I assume the damaged area has been removed and tar/felt paper replaced? At least this would have provided protection in the event of a rainy weekend. Or does he intend to return on Saturday and make sure all is secure?
I would ask him why he did this.
