Question
I have a mountain cabin with a steep metal roof. I want to install a wood burning stove with a 6" exaust pipe that runs straight up through the roof. Do you have a kit or assembly that will allow me todo this?? If not can you direct me to a source who can help me?

That question is best asked of the stove manufacturer. The type of exhaust pipe depends a lot of how hot the flue gasses are, exhaust flow, BTUs of the stove, etc. The stove manufacturers usually offer kits for many types of roofs.

For your metal roof the only consideration is in matching the boot material to the roof. The boot is the part that attaches to the roof and seals to the flue pipe. For example: if you have a steel roof you would not want an Aluminum boot because the steel would corrode the Aluminum in a short time.

This information was tempered by my engineering experience. We have developed and sell roofing "kits" to roofing contractors who do not have the time to research rarely used roofing products. We ensure that they have all the required materials, tools and information to offer their customers a solid 50 year installation.
