Roofing/110 mph shingles

Question
My home is in central Arkansas where we often see videos of tornado damage, usually complete destruction of houses.  Does it make sense to gamble the extra expense of 110 mph shingles on the chance that they would survive a "near" tornado hit?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Steve. Simple answer. "YES". If there is a chance of a near miss or high winds of over 60mph, I would definitely go for the highest rating I could.
I know about this stuff as hurricane Charley go me good in Florida in 2004.
I would also make sure the shingles are nailed down using six nails per shingle, not four as may be your local code.
It would be worth checking up on that.
Also make sure that all shingles are installed laying perfectly flat so that they adhere to each other and have no bumps or waves in them.
Hope this answers your question.
