Roofing - Cement fiber roof tile

Expert: Tom Souza - 11/9/2009

Question
Thank you in advance of any help with this problem. A home I purchased has a 10 year old roof with cement fiber  s- shaped tiles. similar to CEMWOOD products. I thought it was clay... wrong. I recently found hail pitting damage (1/4" to 3/8" divots). Is there any product I can paint on these tiles to seal them and possibly paint (terracotta red)?

Thank you
Mario

Answer
Hi Mario

The product you are speaking of I believe is called Maxi tile, If you look on the side of it looks like it's made from paper layers.  I Believe you can obtain something from your local roofing supply company, The paint they use for real tile may work as the color, the filler for the holes I would think you could use a very good caulking I would use a product called roof busters it comes in a tube let dry then paint. What else might work is stucco patch. These are only Ideas with out seeing It's hard to give you the best way.

Be very careful the product is very breakable it will snap at your feet while walking on it.

Good luck
Tom
