Question
my roof started leaking rather badly and we can not afford to hire anyone to fix it at the moment

i have done a couple roofs before so i feel safe fixing it for them but i was wondering if there is anything i can do about the leak until they can afford all the shingles and other supplys needed to replace their roof

by the way it is a old house with asphalt shingles

Answer
When a shingle roof goes due to age it is usually hundreds of holes by then. If that's the case the only thing you could do is a tarp. If it was an individual leak you could look for the hole and try to patch it with some roofing cement. It wouldn't look good but that's not a factor in your situation.
