Question Thanks ahead of time. I rebuilt a patio cover on the side of a garage and there is minimal overlap from the garage asphalt shingles to the PVC wavy panels although the transition is fairly smooth from the bottom of the building paper to the tops of the PVC panels. I am looking for the best way to keep wind driven rain from blowing up underneath the paper and leaking onto the patio. Been considering a metal coated flashing tape/membrane material but thought I would ask a pro as well. Thanks for you help. Bryan
Answer This is a tough situation.
First of all, the transition flashing should be significant. It should go up under the higher roof by 8 - 10" and out on top of the lower roof by 6 - 8".
I assume the corrugated is the lower roof??? Underneath the flashing that covers it there should either be foam closures contoured to meet the corrugations of the metal or there should be a metal closure hand-cut and fitted to do the job.
That foam or metal closure should then be sealed to the roof with a quality sealant.
