Roofing - Roof Intake vent

Expert: Mark Sundberg - 8/4/2009

Question
Mark,
Have you had experience installing slant back roof louvers low on the roof for air intake.  The Lomanco site (manufacturer) does not recommend this for fear of weather getting in them but I have found no other solution.

Thanks for your assistance.

Answer
It can be done, but I find ignoring the manufacturer's suggestions is very risky business. Of course, it depends on your weather conditions and the slope of the roof and prevailing wind directions. If you are in a snow area or hurricane zone, I wouldn't recommend it.

I would look into virtually any other solution. Soffit or eave vents would be best, or gable end vents.
