Question
When replacing shingles should  felt be placed over the wood first or do you suggest we leave the old
Shingles and put the new over the old?

Answer
When replacing a roof, you should tear off all felt paper or underlayment. The new felt paper or underlayment goes over the decking. This protects against moisture. Felt paper comes in 15lb & 30lb. You also install new drip edge, starter strip, shingles and ridge caps.

The drip edge on the rake goes over the felt paper, and on the eves it overlaps the drip edge.
