Roofing/roof underlayment

Question
Is there much of an advantage to use 30# vs 15#

Answer
No but neither should be used for a shingle roof -although you didn't say what you were using it for. Most roofers use 15 or 30 becasue it is very cheap. But they do make special underlayments for shingles.

If 15 or 30 gets wet before you get the shingles on you have to rip it off and start over otherwise it buckles and will leave lumps in the finished roof. Shingle underlayment will not do that.
