Roofing - replacing a flat roof

Expert: Christena Hunda - 11/6/2006

Question
I have recently moved into my house and have gotten several quotes on replacement of my flat roof.  A modified bitumen roof is proposed. The old roof was not maintained and has many blisters.  We have had rain since I have moved in and noticed no leaks.  I live near Philadelphia.  So, will the temperature this time of year affect the installation of the new roof or should I wait until spring?

Answer
This is the ideal time of year for flat roofing.  If you can manage to secure a qualified contractor to re-roof for you now, take advantage of it.  If you wait until spring, you will pay more as there is always a price increase in raw materials every spring.

Hope this helps!
