Subject: Acceptable attire for Specialty Restaurant?

Question
Hello,

We are taking a 5 day Western Caribbean cruise in July on Enchantment of the Seas.  Is a jacket required for dinner in Chops, the specialty restaurant?  We do not want to pack two jackets to conserve space in suitcase - and do not want to wear the same jacket two nights in a row (we are dining in Chops first night and second night is the formal night).  Thus, if a jacket is NOT required, would a nice long sleeved button down collar shirt be acceptable for my husband?

Thanks for your advice!

Answer
Hi Laura,
Below is the suggested attire for specialty dining restaurants posted on Royal Caribbean's web site:

"We suggest smart casual attire - jackets for men, dresses or pantsuits for women. On formal evenings onboard, formal attire is also appropriate in the restaurant; which includes suits and ties or tuxedos for men and cocktail dresses for women."

I think it would be perfectly acceptable to wear the same jacket two nights in a row. A different shirt and/or tie makes for an entirely different outfit. If you like, your husband could send out his jacket for a quick dry-cleaning in time to wear again the next night.

Enchantment of the Seas is one of my favorite ships. Have a great cruise!

~Christine
