Royal Caribbean - Best party cruise

Expert: Linda - 9/28/2009

Question
Hi Linda,

I just read a response from you and I was impressed. A friend and I are considering traveling on a cruise sometime during the next 6 months. We have never been on a cruise before and we think its a worthwhile experience.

We are looking for a party/singles cruise with a crowd in their with a late 20s that has lots of women to meet and have fun. We are considering going to the caribbean/bahamas (or open to any other interesting recomendation).

At first I was thinking about going on a cruise for the new years. But I have realized that the cost increases a lot in that date, so when would it be the best time to go on a party cruise?

I have heard that NCL/Royal Caribbean/Carnival are good. Which one would you recommend? and which ship? (for example: oasis of the seas from RC??)

Thanks in advance!!

Answer
Hi Mauricio, I'm guessing you read my e mail to the other guys wanting a party cruise.

The best dates for sailing for the least amount of $ is the week after Thanksgiving and the first 2 weeks of December.  Lots of cabins...that's our favorite time to sail.  Jan, Feb and March are OK as well, just do it before spring break (too many mini munchkins out of school)

You can't ever tell what the mix will be of women to men cause each week is different.  The Oasis is a great choice, BUT since she's new, the cost is MUCH higher, so unless money is not an issue, I'd save mine and choose a different ship.

NCL is best choice if your group does NOT like to dress up and one of you is always late (they have no dress up policy and dine when you want)

RCCL ships I think have more "fit" people as they gravitate to the rock climbing wall, track, basketball and great fitness rooms.  Since it's your first cruise, choose the Eastern caribbean, more things to do that tend to attract female (beach, snorkel, shop)  If however your group is into history, ruins etc, climbing the falls then you'd do the Western Caribbean.

Cruising Mauricio is a great experience, first cause you don't need to pack and unpack, decide where to go all the time, plan meals and on a cruise you don't need a designated driver ;)

It's a good value, lots of opportunity to meet others that you may even keep contact with after the cruises.

Stay with the newer ships....try to get at least a balcony room.

You can't go wrong.....have fun!

Linda
