Question taking my family on the Monarch of the Seas that sails on Dec.24th (2000). Since we will be on the first island on Christmas day - will we be able to get taxis for a self tour - or should we rely on RCCL for an excursion that day. Also - what are the water temperatures like during December. Is there anything special about sailing that time for the year that we should be aware of in terms of island activities? Thanks - first time cruiser trying to make this a memorable Christmas Present for my family.

Answer Paul, I'm sure you and your family are getting excited about your first cruise. I have been on ten and I still look foward to everyone, you never know if another one is in the works. I can't remember which route the Monarch is on now( maybe the southern Carib.) but you will have a great time. The islands you are going to live for tourist's so don't be worried about taxi's to get around. The water temp is in the 80's all the time and the water is so clear you can see your feet in 5 feet of water. If you get the chance go snorkling they will love it. If you want more tips let me know what you like to do and what islands you are going to and I will try to help. Like I said ten cruises, all in the Carib. so I've been to these islands many times. Talk to you soon,
John
