About Nick Vujnovich
Expertise
I can answer most questions in detail but I am best used for "Forward" positions especially the "tight 5" and the scrum. I am a front row guy myself. I have good knowledge of game strategy and tactics. I cannot give detailed help with kicking myself but I can suggest general training applications and point you towards good resources. I am a New Zealander living in Southern California, USA. With regard to fitness or weight training: please understand that you are best going to a gym and getting first hand consultation from a qualified trainer. The risk of injury is too great for me to simply give you a program without being able to analyze your fitness or capabilities in person. I really suggest going through my previously answered questions as well. The most common repeat questions refer to tackling.

Experience
I have played rugby from the age of 5 (I am 33 now) I have played "Premier" rugby in New Zealand, London, California, Colorado. I have coached youth, Mens and Womens rugby.

Organizations
Nationwide Mortgage.

Education/Credentials
College Degree

Awards and Honors
Forwards MVP 2004 Season Back Bay Sharks, Newport Beach Ca., Division 1.

Question
im a new coach and have always played in the forwards however although i can teach the backs bsics iim struggiling a bit with the coaching the fly half how to think on her feet, and some positioning will this come with time or do you have any tips on coaching

Thanks

Answer
Hi Ange,

I play to my strengths and keep to comment based on my observations of a player. Take notes during a game and training to suggest what you think might work. Like me you are more forward orientated so I call old team mates and friends who played at fly half and if possible get them to come along to a training or two with the promise it is for specialist training as people are less likely to commit if they feel you are trying to rope them into the whole coaching gig.

Thinking on your feet is all about confidence and not rushing. You have to get it into their head that the need to weigh up options is more important than just reacting. It can be coached by using very realistic training and buy studying tape of pro players and comparing and discussing strategy.

Here are some links I think might help overall:
