Expert: Joshua Barlow - 5/26/2009

Question
I am a 16 year old playing high school rugby in the U.S. I play flanker on my high school team. I am 5 feet 8 inches and 158 pounds. I want to know how i can get better at playing flanker.

Answer
Hi

Firstly The most important thing to concentrate on fitness, so that you can get to the breakdowns as soon as possible and compete for the ball.

secondly, make sure you work on technique e.g tackling, competing for the ball.

Also work on strength so that you can bring big guys down, and break the line of defense

also work on supporting the player with the ball

remember to communicate with the pack as well.

Thanks
